Aimee Song and Jacopo Moschin are opening up about why marriage is in the cards after a decade together.

The couple — who got engaged in October 2023 — are featured on the cover of Bride’s April 17 issue, where they shared their reasons for wanting to finally tie the knot.

Song told the publication that she never “envisioned” that an engagement or wedding was in her future, and that she “never understood doing something for a man or for a husband.”

However, things changed when she and her fiancé welcomed their first child Teo near the end of 2022, and she got the chance to see Moschin be a father.

“I think I speak for both of us when I say you grow so much as a person,” Moschin added of becoming parents. “You mature, you become more responsible, but also more caring and more patient. You have an understanding of the world, that it’s bigger than before, and you have a lot more empathy.”

Moschin told the outlet that he always saw the value of a marriage between them in the future, and decided that the time was right to finally pop the question in a place that was special to the both of them, in Paris where they had often met during the long distance phase of their relationship.

The photographer proposed at hotel Plaza Athénée with the Eiffel Tower dazzling behind them on a balcony. In photos the couple shared, Song could be seen looking giddy with surprise and excitement as he held the ring up to her.

Song shared that “something” shifted in their relationship from that point on, saying, “On a deep level, there are more important things in life than a ring or having a wedding or being married. But maybe because it’s such a traditional thing, it feels official and real. There’s something very romantic about it and the way it happened.”

Afterwards, the pair celebrated the engagement at a restaurant downstairs in the hotel where they were just “giggling and soaking it in.”

As for their eventual nuptials, plans are on hold for now until after Song, who is currently pregnant, gives birth to their second child. “[Including our kids] will make [the wedding] even more special,” she said.

But they're already starting to envision what the big day — likely in Italy where they first met —will look like.

“[A wedding] is just something I never thought about until I got engaged, and now [it] has a bit of a different meaning to me,” Song shared. “Jacopo and I have been together for almost 10 years, so I think, for us, a wedding or some kind of celebration of our love will definitely be in the cards.”
