Aintree tips: Found A Fifty can deliver for favourite backers on Grand National day

Our horse racing tipster looks away from the Grand National for his best bets on Aintree’s Saturday card.

Caldwell Potter (1.55pm, Novices’ Hurdle)

The six-year-old gelding has not been seen since December 27 when he won the Grade 1 Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown. He tracked the leader until three out that day before taking it up himself. A slight mistake at the last made no difference to the outcome of the race as he stayed on well to the line winning by six and a half lengths.

That form in heavy going is the clear standard of this race and, providing he’s fit and ready for this, should once again assert his dominance over the rest of the field.

Flooring Porter (3.05pm, Liverpool Hurdle)

Third in this race last year, the nine-year-old gelding can go two better this time round. Second in the Stayers’ Hurdle at Cheltenham, he came through to take it up from five out before being headed by Teahupoo just before the last.

This race is slightly easier than the Stayers’ and he should take full advantage, with his biggest rival Sire Du Berlais looking for the three-peat.

Found A Fifty (5pm, Maghull Novices’ Chase)

Seven-year-old gelding Found A Fifty was second last time out at Cheltenham when Gaelic Warrior was simply too good for him. However, he finished comfortably ahead of the rest of the field, which included third-placed Il Etait Temps who won Thursday’s Novices’ Chase race.

Prior to that, he came second at Leopardstown on February 3, narrowly losing to Il Etait Temps by a neck and a distance clear of the rest. Not having to go against either of those rivals this time, he should be able to notch his second win of this jumps season. Master Chewy, who fell when fourth in that same race at Cheltenham could, well be the main threat.
