Anna Wintour Wore Sunglasses Even While Laying Off Pitchfork Staff, Axed Writer Claims
Anna Wintour kept her trademark dark sunglasses on even as she was delivering bad news to Pitchfork staffers, one writer that was part of the purge complains.
Wintour, known for her icy demeanor, serves as Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief, as well as the Chief Content Officer for Condé Nast. Pitchfork is being absorbed by GQ, resulting in staff layoffs.

One now-former Pitchfork staffer was not having it.
“One absolutely bizarro detail from this week is that Anna Wintour – seated indoors at a conference table – did not remove her sunglasses while she was telling us that we were about to get canned,” former Pitchfork writer Allison Hussey claimed on X.
“The indecency we’ve seen from upper management this week is appalling,” Hussey posted.
Wintour sent a memo, per the New York Times, detailing the Pitchfork shuttering as a standalone. “This decision was made after a careful evaluation of Pitchfork’s performance, and what we believe is the best path forward for the brand so that our coverage of music can continue to thrive within the company.”
