Bake Off throws a huge spanner in the works for bakers

As if the technical challenges aren't, well, challenging enough on The Great British Bake Off, judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith threw a massive spanner in the works this week.

In Tuesday's episode (September 26), the bakers were thrown a curveball when Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig revealed that they'd all have staggered start times - making it impossible to check their progress against their competitors.

This twist isn't totally unheard of in Bake Off tradition, with Paul and Prue's predecessor Mary Berry having used the same time trick on the bakers back in the series six semi-final.
