Biden speaks on campus protests as university response heats up: Watch live

President Biden is slated to deliver remarks Thursday morning on the ongoing campus protests across the nation as response efforts from administrators and police have ramped up.

Pro-Palestinian protests have escalated in recent days, with police most recently entering an encampment at the University of California, Los Angeles, after protesters ignored law enforcement’s orders to leave the area. Officers also disassembled barricades around the demonstrations and detained protesters.

Days earlier, hundreds of New York City Police Department officers, many with batons and in riot gear, moved onto Columbia University’s campus Tuesday evening as student protesters continued a largely peaceful occupation of a campus building in protest of the Israel-Hamas war.

The event is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. EDT.
