Biden wins Pennsylvania Democratic primary

President Biden won the Democratic primary in Pennsylvania, according to Decision Desk HQ.

The incumbent has already crossed the delegate threshold needed to score his party nod, but the win in the Keystone State could add as many as 159 delegates into his column, according to a tracker from Decision Desk HQ/The Hill.

Biden has eclipsed his long-shot Democratic challengers, but the incumbent faced a protest vote as some Democrats express frustration with the administration over Biden’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war. After the success of similar efforts in several other states, Uncommitted PA pushed a write-in campaign in Tuesday’s primary to press Biden for a permanent cease-fire in Gaza immediately.

On the GOP side, Trump is set to notch another win in Pennsylvania’s Republican primary on Tuesday.

Polling averages from Decision Desk HQ/The Hill show the GOP front-runner with a slim 0.4 percentage point lead over Biden in the battleground state as the race gears up for a competitive rematch of the pair’s 2020 showdown.

Pennsylvanians are also voting on Tuesday in the race for Sen. Bob Casey’s (D-Pa.) seat in the upper chamber and several closely watched House contests, with the state poised to play a major role in deciding who controls the White House and Congress next year.
