It's one of the biggest TV shows in the world, but The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik doesn't let her sons watch.

In a Q&A on her YouTube channel, Bialik, who plays Amy on the CBS sitcom, admitted that she's uncomfortable with the idea of exposing her children – born in 2005 and 2008 – to some of the jokes made on the comedy.

"My sons don't watch The Big Bang Theory," she shared. "They've been to a handful of tapings.

"A lot of the content is stuff that I'm not ready for them to get into yet. So when there's an episode that I determine is clean and relatively safe, they have been able to come to run-throughs."

Bialik has also added that she also actively avoids watching herself when she can.

"I actually don't watch The Big Bang Theory," she said.

"I sometimes will see scenes from previous episodes when it's being shown to the audience before we start a tape night, but it's very uncomfortable to watch myself, to hear my voice, just to analyse like, 'Why am I not standing up straight? I look pregnant'."

The hugely popular show will be coming to an end this season, after more than 270 episodes.

The Big Bang Theory airs on CBS in the US and on E4 in the UK.
