After the season 3 finale of Bluey aired, kids and parents alike panicked, thinking it was the show’s grand finale.

However, Bluey produced Sam Moor confirmed to BBC in April 2024 that there is more to come for everyone’s favorite dog, Bluey, and his family.

"No, it is not the end for Bluey. I'm sure we have many more surprises in store for you," she said. "We have more in store and we are thinking what would be next."

The show first started airing in October 2018 and has since become one of the most popular kid’s shows, with over 20 billion streaming minutes on Disney+. Originally an Australian show, it is now aired in over 60 countries worldwide including the U.S., U.K. and China.

Though the producers confirmed there will be more of Bluey in the future, they did not give a specific timeline as to when fans could see the lovable blue dog on their screen again. Executive producer Daley Pearson told Australia’s The Courier Mail that they were going on a break for some time after making over 150 episodes over the course of three seasons.

“We are just going to get our heads on a bit, it’s been four or five years and we’ve made 154 episodes, it is kind of unprecedented to do that back-to-back,” he said. “It was very intense. We are just coming to the end of season three and trying to think about what’s the best way to make it better.”

Though the returning cast members have not been confirmed, it is likely that David McCormack will reprise his role as Bluey’s dad, Bandit Heeler, and Melanie Zanetti as Bluey’s mom, Chilli Heeler. Roles like Bluey and her sister Bingo are voiced by children of the production crew and are not named, show creator Joe Brumm previously said.

Also likely returning are Dan Brumm, Myf Warhurst, Patrick Brammall, Claudia O’Doherty and Chris Brumm, all of whom play various members of Bluey’s family.

“I love how much America has embraced this little Aussie show,” Zanetti told PEOPLE in November 2022 ahead of season 3. “It’s a testament to our creator Joe Brumm, his vision, his writing, and his ability to tap into that very specific time of life with all of its beauty and absurdity and hilarity.”

The season 3 finale, “The Sign,” aired on April 14, 2024, and left fans wondering what’s next for Bluey. In the episode, which was four times as long as the average Bluey episode, the Heeler family celebrated the wedding of Bandit’s brother Radley to Frisky. They also began planning for their move to a new city due to Bandit’s job — which the family, including Chilli, were struggling with.

The episode got its name from the “For Sale” sign that is put up in front of Bluey’s home, per the Los Angeles Times.

“Everyone is trying to make the best decision at that time and you’re going to make mistakes,” McCormack told the outlet of his interpretation of the emotional episode. “I think that’s for me the underlying feeling of this episode is you’ve just got to try and do your best. You’re going to get it wrong sometimes.”

“The Sign” ultimately ended with Bluey’s family taking down the For Sale sign and choosing to stay in their home. In the surprise follow-up episode, “Surprise,” a grown-up Bluey comes back to their house on the hill to visit Bandit and Chilli and brings a special guest with her: her future child.

Fans questioned who Bluey’s child’s father could be — and marvelled at how an adult Bluey takes after her dad.

Brumm and the show’s producers have yet to reveal any plot details, however, the ending of “Surprise” has led some fans to think there may be a time jump in the future.

Brumm told Deadline in April 2024 that he wasn’t opposed to the idea of seeing what a grown-up Bluey could look like.

“It would be fascinating — and we get a lot of requests to age the characters up,” he said. “It would completely change the show, but there would be something really sweet about bringing through the new younger characters and having Bluey and Bingo at that babysitting age. That would definitely make a bunch of fans very happy.”

After “The Sign” and “Surprise” aired, many parents were concerned that it seemed like the series had come to a close, especially with the full-circle nature of the last episode.

“For a show that isn't ending, the last two eps sure FELT like a series finale + epilogue,” one fan of the show wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"I agree," another wrote in response.
