Body-painted flight attendants have again been used to promote travel in New Zealand – but this time it’s not an Air New Zealand campaign.

Cheapflights.co.nz used the models – painted as a steward and stewardess by world-champion bodypaint artist Yolanda Bartram – to promote its refreshed website.

The launch was celebrated in the Britomart precinct in Auckland with body painted flight attendants encouraging passers-by to get into the picture by posing next to a 3D chalk artwork of some of the world’s most popular landmarks and to explore the world via the new site.

Momondo Group, cheapflights.co.nz’s parent company, chose New Zealand as a test market for the next-generation website.

The new “meta” site features a simplified user interface designed to make it easier to search through millions of flights and travel options faster – as well as quickly filter and compare results, according to whether holidaymakers want the cheapest or the quickest option.

It also features handy “chart view” and “calendar view” options to help users find the cheapest days and times to travel.

Momondo Group chief executive Hugo Burge says New Zealanders will be the first to benefit from the new search technology, smart filters and simplified design.

“Given that Kiwis are known for travelling far and wide, it makes sense to launch the first of our new sites here.

“We already know that New Zealand has ‘royal approval’ and just as New Zealand was the first destination for the next generation of royals, it’s where we’ve come to kick off our next generation of travel search.”
