John George Murdoch loved to share his bubbly nature with passengers.

A Facebook fan page was created and passengers posed for selfies with who they dubbed the Happy Bus Driver.

It's now been revealed the 45-year-old is facing charges, which include indecent activities with children.

Before his 6-year driving career, Murdoch was a teacher at a Catholic high school in Toowoomba. It is alleged in the mid-1990's he took two students to his home, showed the boys pornographic material and took nude photos.

He left the school in 1994.

The Catholic Education Office told 7 News in a statement that they have “provided information to the Police and have continued to work with them."

Murdoch was employed by the Brisbane City Council before the charges were laid.

Lord Mayor Graham Quick said: “Incidents like these are always disturbing whether where there are allegations that come forward albeit not related to their activities as a bus driver.”

Council Opposition Leader Milton Dick says Murdoch's charges slipped through the system.

“I think it would be important, and prudent, that we do have ongoing checks of some of these systems perhaps a trial to look at how we can better improve these systems of communication.”

Police charged Murdoch in November 2013 and he was released on bail. His case is set down for trial at Toowoomba District Court next month.

Murdoch resigned from his bus driver's job last yea after the council found out about the charges.
