Bunnie Xo Reflects on Her and Jelly Roll's 2018 Breakup and How It Led Them on 'This Wild Journey Called Life'
"Our castle in the sand had to crumble so we could rebuild on solid ground," said Bunnie in a TikTok with her country star husband
Distance made Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo's hearts grow fonder.
The country star's wife shared a TikTok video of the pair on Tuesday alongside a note reflecting on their 2018 breakup and how the split ultimately helped them grow as a couple.
"Who knew us breaking up in 2018, me moving back to Vegas & you coming to get me back - would have put us on this wild journey called life," wrote Bunnie, 44, in text displayed on the video of the couple posing and showing off their outfits.
"We finally committed to each other & did everything we promised each other the first night in 2016," she continued. "Our castle in the sand had to crumble so we could rebuild on solid ground. I yuh you so muchhh."
Eagle-eyed fans will notice the video features Jelly, 40, with bare teeth, as Bunnie shared a video of him showing off his grill-less smile at the dentist to TikTok earlier this week. In the clip, the "Need a Favor" singer asked fans if they think he should add "golds and diamonds" back into his mouth or not.
Last year, Jelly and Bunnie — who got married in 2016 — renewed their wedding vows in Las Vegas, where they met, to mark their seventh anniversary. "She's my best friend, man. She truly is my favorite person to talk to. She's my first and last line of defense," he told PEOPLE at the time.
"She's my everything. There's anchors in life that kind of keep us straight, and Bunnie’s definitely mine," continued the "Save Me" musician.
Throughout the couple's marriage, they haven't been 100% sure of their exact wedding date. "There was always a discrepancy with our anniversary, because she thought it was on one day. I thought it was on another day. Neither one of us knew," said Jelly.
In order to solve the matter, they simply chose a brand-new date to agree on. "It is officially — I think — September 1st. And September 1st felt right, because we thought it was between the 30th and 31st, so I said, ‘Well, now we can just both be wrong and just set it on the first.’ Even money that way," explained Jelly.
