Charli XCX Brings Out Robyn and Romy to Remix ‘Dancing on My Own’ at Glastonbury DJ Set

Charli XCX delivered the ultimate “Partygirl” set at Glastonbury Festival on Friday night, bringing out Robyn for a performance of “With Every Heartbeat,” as well as Romy, from indie rock band the xx, who remixed Robyn’s iconic millennial anthem “Dancing on My Own.”

Charli’s latest album, “Brat,” has launched the avant-garde pop star into a whole new stratosphere with near-unanimous critical acclaim. The record, which is a celebration of rave music balanced with moments of vulnerability, debuted at the second spot on the U.K. albums chart after its June 7 release and has been her most commercially successful to date.

Throughout the rollout of “Brat,” Charli released several remixes, including one of “360” featuring Robyn and Yung Lean and a “Von Dutch” version with Addison Rae and longtime collaborator A.G. Cook. Her most recent remix was of “Girl, So Confusing” featuring Lorde, the very artist who the track was rumored to be about.

On the track, Charli conveys her complicated feelings about a fellow female singer, singing: “People say we’re alike / They say we’ve got the same hair/ We talk about making music/ But I don’t know if it’s honest.” On the remix, Lorde responds, “Well honestly I was speechless when I woke up to your voice note / You told me how you’ve been feeling / Let’s work it out on the remix.”

Charli has been promoting “Brat” through DJ sets, branded as “Partygirl” shows, as well as live performances. In September, she and fellow pop titan Troye Sivan are teaming up to co-headline the “Sweat” tour, which includes shows at New York City’s Madison Square Garden and Los Angeles’ Kia Forum.
