Hearts were positively shattered when news of Cheryl and Liam Payne's split broke earlier this year, but it seems it wasn't just a romantic relationship that ended.

Yes, according to producer Jonas Blue, Cheryl and Liam were planning to record music together – specifically Liam's new track 'Polaroid', which now features Lennon Stella.

Speaking to the Daily Star about the single, Jonas revealed that he had originally planned 'Polaroid' as a duet featuring the former X Factor couple.

"The funny thing was, probably about a year ago I said to my manager that I would love to do a collab with them both, and I reckon it would have been 'Polaroid'," he explained.

"It would have been perfect as I knew when I wrote the song I could hear Liam's voice on it."

Fortunately for Jonas, his vision was at least half-realised, despite Liam's "weird" break-up experience over the last few months.

Back in August, Liam opened up about his split from Cheryl, saying he had felt "fragile" when the couple made their sad announcement.

"That's the bit when it really hits home I guess," he said of their joint statement. "But at the same point it's like breaking up twice, like we already did this once and now I'm having to go through all of that again.

"I have to tell people I don't even really know. I have nothing against any of these people but it is a bit weird sometimes."
