Danielle Fishel Celebrates Former “Girl Meets World ”Costar Sabrina Carpenter's Billboard Hit Success: 'I'm Crying'

Carpenter earned her first top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 for "Espresso"

Sabrina Carpenter just scored her first song on the top 10 of the Billboard Top 100, and her Girl Meets World family is celebrating her success.

On April 22, Danielle Fishel shared a photo of the Billboard top 10 list, which features Carpenter’s “Espresso” at No. 7, on her Instagram Stories as she congratulated her former costar on the career milestone.

“You’ve done it my bb!! I’m crying fr,” Fishel, 42, wrote on the post, along with several stickers that said “Congratulations” and “More espresso less depresso” in reference to the name of Carpenter’s single.

In the wake of the news, Carpenter, 24, posted on her own Instagram Stories, writing “Thank you coffee loverssssss,” and sharing a teary-eyed smiley face as she reposted the Billboard top 10 chart.

Fishel and Carpenter co-starred on the Disney Channel series from 2014 to 2017. Girl Meets World revisited fan-favorite characters Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga Matthews from Boy Meets World as they navigated life in New York City with their teen daughter, Riley Matthews (Rowan Blanchard), and her best friend, Maya Hart (Carpenter).

Carpenter’s mom, Katy Hart, ended up marrying Boy Meets World OG Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong) in the show, with none other than William Daniels, a.k.a. Mr. Feeny, officiating the ceremony.

Blanchard, now 22, told PEOPLE in 2015 that they were hoping to capture the same spirit as Boy Meets World with the reboot series. “They knew that they had an audience and they were able to give them these lessons through comedy, and I think that’s what our goal is on the show."

Carpenter, meanwhile, said that the new and old cast had bonded together quite nicely. "It’s like we’re all family now. I think that was so miraculous to me, when we started this show. It’s hard to come into a family that’s been together for seven seasons, and they welcomed us like we’d been with them forever. It’s one of the most amazing experiences of my life,” she explained.

The "Feather" singer — who went on to star in Mean Girls on Broadway and pursue a solo music career following the show — told Teen Vogue in 2020 that the Disney Channel series was her "world" while it was airing.

“That was my everything and I was so proud to be a part of it and everything that it stood for definitely would have done some things different had I been doing it now, but I think the beauty of the show was that we really were at the age that we were playing and we were coming into ourselves as we were playing characters that were coming into themselves,” she said.

“I've created friendships from that show that'll last a lifetime,” Carpenter added of Girl Meets World. “I can't really go back and wish that I could change too much, because it was real.”

The Boy Meets World cast seemingly set the tone for forging tight-knit bonds amongst the cast of the Disney Channel reboot. Fishel, Strong and Will Friedle remain as close as ever nearly 25 years after the show's conclusion, and Strong previously told PEOPLE that as "cheesy" as it sounds," the cast "really does feel like family."

"We're all connected in this way no one else in our life understands," he said. "We only have each other to rely on about certain things and memories. So I just love them. I'm so happy that everybody is happy in their lives, for the most part, and we're all supporting one another."

Strong also said at the time that after reprising his role as Shawn on Girl Meets World, he was "pretty much done with acting," as the reboot served as "a period at the end of a long sentence that had started when I was a teenager."
