The daughter of Mark Bombara, the man who shot dead his ex-wife's friend and daughter in Perth on Friday, says police should have done more to stop her father.

Jennifer Petelczyc and her 18-year-old daughter Gretl were murdered in their Floreat home as Bombara looked for his ex-wife who was staying at their address.

Ariel Bombara told the ABC she contacted police three times prior to the shooting deaths about the "real and imminent" threat she and her mother faced at the hands of Bombara.

"My mother and I made it clear that our lives were at risk – we were repeatedly ignored, repeatedly failed," she said.

"These failures have cost the lives of two incredible women."

It has been revealed Bombara had a licence to own 13 guns, two of which he took to the Petelczyc's home.

WA Premier Roger Cook said he was seeking further information from police about "operational matters". He earlier made a commitment to look at tightening gun laws in the state.

  • Gross picture a reminder to Aussie residents

    Any idea what this is?

Well according to Sydney Water, it's what happens to your pipes when you pour cooking oil down your kitchen sink.

"Fats, oils and grease should never go down the drain. When they hit the cool water in your wastewater pipes, they harden," it said in a recent warning, saying such blockages can lead to expensive repair bills.

I'm sure the picture will act as a good reminder for many households.

There's no doubting Australia has an obsession with large utes, and car sales data proves it.

Some have had enough of the surge, with Melbourne's City of Yarra Council looking to slap a tax on big US-style trucks. Greens Councillor Sophie Wade says they pose an increased threat to the community but supporters of the trucks have asked for more evidence they're unsafe.

Well for Professor Stuart Newstead, director of Monash University's Accident Research Centre, it's no coincidence deaths on Australian roads are at a level not seen in years.

"It actually is something that's quite real," he told Nine News.

"[Utes] don't actually doesn't provide any better protection for you as an occupant. People think it's [safe] because it's big and big and tough, but certainly the trauma burden it places on the rest of the community is disproportionately high."
