Diane Lane Recalls Embarrassing Her Daughter Eleanor as a Teenager: 'So Much Fun, So Easy to Do'

Lane joked that she'll "never know" what her 30-year-old daughter was really like as a teen during an appearance on 'The Jennifer Hudson Show'

Diane Lane is reminiscing about the fun moments of her daughter's teenage years.

The actress, 59 — who shares her only child, Eleanor Lambert, 30, with her ex-husband Christopher Lambert — took a trip down memory lane on what it was like being a parent to a teen during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Wednesday, May 22,

After host Jennifer Hudson asked Lane what she remembered about being a teenager, the A Man in Full star joked, “Myself or raising one?”

Hudson, 42, then asked if Eleanor was anything like her mother during her younger years, to which Lane light-heartedly replied. “Oh yeah, well I mean I hope not but I’ll never know."

“Occasionally she’ll tell me stories and be like, ‘Oh I can tell you now Mom, I can tell you now,’ ” Lane recalled. “Okay, makes sense, I had that one coming. Chickens come home to roost.”

“But you know, I loved her so much and she loved me but it was so much fun to embarrass her because it was so easy to do at that age,” the mother of one continued.

“And driving in the car and she just kept saying the same phrase over and over to me and I said, ‘I’m gonna rename you, I’m gonna legally change your name to, ‘God mom stop,' " Lane added with a laugh.

Lane added that her actress daughter has now “accepted her fully” and appreciates the moments of embarrassment.

Hudson, who is mother to son David Daniel Otunga Jr, 14, with ex-fiancé David Otunga, then asked her guest if there was “any escape” from embarrassing their children, to which Lane replied that her “inner 14-year-old” was still with her. “So compassion for the 14-year-old,” Lane added.

Elsewhere during her appearance, the Let Him Go star also opened up about her first Hollywood party as a teen herself.

“I remember coming to Los Angeles for the first film to come out, I was 14 years old,” Lane said. “And it’s so interesting because I just wore my favorite jeans and my favorite shirt. I braided my hair the night before so it would be wavy and that was it for the glam squad for me.”

She then recalled the late actor Laurence Olivier, her costar in A Little Romance, being there, along with singer-songwriter Peter Frampton.

"All I wanted to do was meet Peter Frampton," said Lane, adding that she managed to get a photo with the now-74-year-old and “years later” the paparazzo who took it gave the picture to her at a red carpet.

“I was so fulfilled,” Lane said of the photo reveal. “My inner 14-year-old, she had her way," added Lane, revealing that she still has the photo "among my treasuries."
