Did the Queen just shut down Melania and Donald?

Looks like the Queen has already crossed a potential Trump visit to the UK off her to do list. At least for the moment, it seems.

British political writers were quick to focus in on something that was mysteriously absent from Elizabeth II's speech this week. She didn’t say anything about a Trump visit.

Usually, the Queen’s speech mentions any state visits planned for the duration of the parliamentary session, which covers the next two years.

The Queen only said that she and Prince Philip, “look forward to welcoming their majesties King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain on a state visit in July.”

President Trump is expected to visit the UK, but no date has been announced.

So could this mean that Melania and other members of the first family may miss out on the opportunity to have an audience with the Queen at Buckingham Palace?

Or meet the younger royals, including the Duchess of Cambridge – something Michelle Obama got to do twice.

Downing Street and the White House were adamant the omission was nothing. The trip just hasn’t been scheduled yet.

No doubt, a visit by Trump would be challenging given his appointment wasn’t received well by many Brits.

But could this be the second ‘secret’ message by the Queen this week?

She was wearing a rather interesting hat to deliver her address, and much has been made about it on social media.

Whether she was really making a silent protest about Brexit, we will never know.

But we can definitely enjoy the memes.
