Disturbing scenes as neo-Nazis and protestors clash in Melbourne

Shocking footage shows transgender rights protestors being held back by police officers.

Shocking footage has captured the moment transgender rights protesters clashed with neo-Nazis in Melbourne’s city centre on Saturday.

It’s understood the protestors initially gathered to speak out against UK anti-trans activist Kellie-Jay Keen, also known as Posie Parker, as she continues her Let Women Speak Australia tour.

Ms Keen, who claims changing sex is impossible and wants to keep female-only bathrooms, has sparked wild scenes across the country since landing in Sydney on March 11.

However, a group of about 30 people from the National Socialist Movement appeared to descend on her latest event in Melbourne on Saturday afternoon, marching along Spring Street near the Victorian Parliament.

Disturbing footage posted on Twitter shows a line of police officers trying to hold back protestors as the neo-Nazis walk past them while doing the Sieg Heil salute.

Transgender activists can be heard screaming obscenities at the group as police yell for them to “get back”.

“Look what the pigs let happen in front of Parliament House. Same Nazis from the Grampians. Posie Parker, you can’t hide, you got Nazis on your side,” the clip is captioned.

The neo-Nazis were also pictured standing on the Parliament steps while holding a sign calling transgender people offensive names.

Aussies outraged over neo-Nazi presence

Numerous Australians were quick to share their horror over the “disgraceful” scenes, with many criticising police for “protecting the Nazis”.

“Never thought I'd see the day in Australia that police shove and manhandle people protesting in order to protect marchers giving the NAZI salute,” one person wrote.

“This is terrible,” someone else said, while another added: “This is wrong on so many levels”.
