The Duchess of Cambridge wore Emilia Wickstead for Buckingham Palace meeting
The Duchess of Cambridge wore an Emilia Wickstead dress for an engagement at Buckingham Palace on 7 October. She and her husband, the Duke of Cambridge, held an audience with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine and First Lady Olena Zelenska at the palace, the first royal engagement at the location since lockdown.
The royal wore a cornflower blue dress by Wickstead, one of her favourite designers. Cinched at the waist with a belt and featuring a v-neckline, the look was typically elegant and occasion-appropriate. The shade of the dress even matched one of the colours of the Ukrainian flag, a subtle tribute to her guests.
Catherine styled the dress with her Gianvito Rossi ‘Praline’ pumps, which are still available to buy via Net-a-Porter, priced at £520. These versatile court shoes are a favourite of the royal and she regularly wears them during official engagements.
She also accessorised with sapphire and diamond earrings, plus a pendant necklace.
The Cambridges conducted the engagement on behalf of the Queen who is currently not conducting any in-person duties to minimise the risk of contracting Covid-19. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh moved base from Balmoral to Sandringham in September.
The monarch will return to Buckingham Palace only for specific events and audiences. Her decision to allow the Duke and Duchess to entertain the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska is said to be evidence of how much she trusts her grandson and his wife.
