Explosions target Russian military base in occupied Mariupol
Three explosions targeted a Russian command post at the Ilyich Iron and Steel Works in the Russian-occupied city of Mariupol, Mayor's advisor Petro Andriushchenko reported on Telegram on April 19.
“Details will follow,” Andriushchenko wrote.
Mariupol's occupation began in May 2022 after nearly three months of intense siege and combat. Prior to Russia’s full-scale invasion, the city had a population of approximately 450,000. The prolonged conflict forced most residents to evacuate, while tens of thousands lost their lives during the siege. Today, Mariupol stands largely in ruins, with Russian forces attempting to conceal the extent of their actions and falsely portray efforts at reconstruction.
