A teenager stabbed to death in Leicester has been named as his heartbroken family said: “Our world has been turned upside down.”

Codie Bambrick, 18, was attacked at lunchtime on Glazebrook Road, New Parks on Wednesday.

Emergency services attended and found Codie collapsed but he was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Police have made five arrests, including two boys aged 17.

A post-mortem examination confirmed that Codie died as a result of a stab wound.

In a statement, his relatives said: “Words can’t describe the grief we’re feeling.

“In the last day or so, our world has been turned upside down.

“Codie was loved by all of us and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

“We’d urge anyone who can help police with their investigation to contact them.

“While we’re grateful to the support we’ve received since we received this terrible news, we’d ask that our privacy is respected at this time.”

Two 17-year-olds detained on suspicion of murder remain in custody.

Two other males – aged 36 and 17 – and a 38-year-old woman arrested for violent disorder are still being held with a 52-year-old man held on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The latter has since been released under investigation.

Detective Inspector David Greenhalgh, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: “While a number of people have been spoken to, we are continuing to appeal for information to establish the full circumstances of what happened.
