Family pay tribute to Aberdeen man Jamie Forbes as suspect Lee Smith charged with murder

A suspect has appeared in court charged with the murder of a "much-loved" man in Aberdeen.

Jamie Forbes, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency crews were called to reports of an injured man in Aberdeen's Elphinstone Court at around 3.30pm on Monday.

In a statement released via Police Scotland, Mr Forbes' family said: "Jamie was a much-loved son, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin and forever-loved brother and brother-in-law.

"We ask that our privacy as a family is respected at this difficult time."

Lee Smith, 37, was arrested and charged in connection with Mr Forbes' death and appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Smith, of Aberdeen, made no plea to the single murder charge.

He was remanded in custody and is due back in the dock within the next eight days.
