'Fight of the year contender' leaves UFC fans in a spin
The internet has exploded after fans were treated to what’s widely being described as the fight of the year at UFC Phoenix.
An unbelievable bout saw Vicente Luque knock out Bryan Barberena in an absorbing encounter that was 15 minutes of non-stop action.
After a fantastic standup battle that saw both men trade brutal blows in the first two rounds, viewers were treated to a heart-stopping final round in the welterweight showdown.
Luque and Barberena continued to dish out punishment on one another until a right uppercut down the middle by Luque finally started to break the armour known as Barberena’s chin.
Luque followed up with a right hand and a knee that sent Barberena crumbling to the canvas.
He then unloaded with a series of short shots that caught his rival flush, dropping Barberena to the canvas before the referee waved the fight off with six seconds remaining.
Astonishingly, the pair traded blows throughout the contest in an exhibition of striking only bettered once before in a three-round UFC bout.
Luque was thought to be down on the judge’s scorecards until he conjured the mother of all finishes.
The incredible display sent fans into meltdown on social media.
