Footage of 'alien' boarding spacecraft goes viral

A video claiming to show a spindly alien walking across a plain to board a waiting spaceship has got the internet talking.

Viewed millions of times already, the footage posted to Youtube channel Alien Unleash is said to have been filmed earlier this month in a remote snowy region of Romania.

It shows a large-headed figure walking unsteadily on two feet across the grassy plain. It approaches a spaceship that seems to be floating with just a staircase touching the ground.

Once on board the UFO, it flies off through the forest and out of site. The blurb with the video suggests it was filmed near the city of Târgoviște, according to The Express.

"This is no joke, no fake, no hoax. People my hands are still shaking due to emotion,” the caption continued.

"It's registered with the phone and I still cannot believe I witnessed such a scene."

It’s been viewed 15 million times on Facebook alone, with many wanting to believe what they are seeing.

"If this is real it changes everything,” one person commented.

However most have said the clip is a CGI fake and it’s since been called out by debunking website Snopes.com.

"This video doesn’t actually show an extraterrestrial being,” the article read.

"For one, internet users couldn’t quite agree on where this video supposedly took place.

This is a common form of hoax, where the footage is not rooted in reality and so the location can be changed to suit a larger audience.

"When the UFO makes its way over the trees, for instance, it appears that the spacecraft is flying through the trees and not over them."

And Scott Brando, who runs debunking website ufoofinterest.org agreed.

"Of course this is a fake."
