Gable Tostee secures six-figure sum for 60 Minutes tell-all

He was accused of murdering New Zealand woman Warriena Wright after she suffered a fatal fall from the balcony of his Surfers Paradise apartment during a Tinder date.

But last month he was found not guilty, and now Gable Tostee is set to tell his side of the story, having secured a six-figure sum for an interview with 60 Minutes,

The 30-year-old carpet layer will appear on the program on November 13, when it's expected he'll set the record straight about what really happened on that fateful night in August 2014.

Meanwhile, yesterday, Tostee got everyone talking on social media when he won a milkshake competition on the Gold Coast.

Grinning with a victorious arm raised and a satisfied look of his face, he became the first person to drink a monster sized milkshake at Gangster and Gatsby restaurant.

Pictured with a full belly and holding the massive empty glass over his head, Tostee was rewarded with $50 in cash and a free T-shirt.

A post on the restaurant’s Facebook page congratulated Eric Thomas – Tostee’s newly acquired name – for downing the shake in 13.28 minutes.

The milkshake includes five litres of ice-cream, half a litre of milk and almost a litre and a half of whipped cream.

While the name didn't ring a bell for the owners, Tostee's familiar face soon had social media users fired up.

“Correct me if I’m wrong… Isn’t this Gable Tostee?” one girl wrote.

“Eric Thomas. Mate everyone knows who you are,” another said.

One woman vowed never to return after seeing the photo.

“Gangster & Gatsby- you should be ashamed!!!! What a d***head - won't be coming to yours ever now & removing my "like" from your page, this is NOT the sort of advertising you need on your page.”

Others seemed concerned on the impact the image will have on the business, with many suggesting it was a “tasteless” PR move.

“Ok… He downed the shake but probably not the best marketing tool to use guys,” a man wrote.

“Nothing like publicity tactics. Shame,” another person said.

“I think you may loose a lot of customers due to this photo! I know I wouldn't want him associated with my business in anyway,” a woman commented.

Restaurant owner Sue Armstrong told The Courier Mail she had no idea the challenge winner was Gable Tostee, saying: “I don’t really follow the news”.

She said Tostee “literally smashed it down”, while most customers have to walk away from the challenge.

“I asked him how he was feeling — he was looking a little bit sick,” she said. “He just said he needed a nap. He was quite fine. I think he was in a food coma.”
