Gatwick Airport evacuated after fire alarm

Passengers were evacuated from Gatwick's South Terminal on Thursday morning after a fire alarm was activated.

A spokesperson for the airport said: "Our dedicated fire service swiftly attended and confirmed there was no fire.

"Passengers are being allowed back into the departure lounge.”

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said it did not attend the incident.

The Airport said the situation was resolved as quickly as possible.

The incident came two days after Gatwick was among the UK airports hit by long queues caused by problems at passport e-gates.
