Summary:

Lewisham East is among the safest of Labour of seats and has been since 1997. Janet Daby has been MP there since 2018, when she won a by-election sparked by the resignation of Heidi Alexander who went to work for London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

Ms Alexander quit after describing then Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn's shadow cabinet as “dysfunctional”.In 2019 Ms Daby’s vote share dropped. But she still won almost 60 per cent of the vote and a majority of over 17,000.

It is ranked very high for its share of people from ethnic minority backgrounds compared to other areas, and very low for its share of homeowners.
