‘General Hospital’ Is Bringing Back William Lipton
Look for a blast-from-the-past to return next week to Port Charles.
William Lipton is checking back into General Hospital — but only for a brief visit. He will reprise his role as Cameron Webber, who was last seen on the sudser in early 2023 when the character took off for college.

Cameron is back in Port Charles because his best friend Spencer is presumed dead. In the Jan. 31 episode of the ABC soap, Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) fell off a boat, leaving fans to believe he drowned. The fate of Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) was left up in the air, too.
Get ready for the world’s most obvious spoiler: Spencer is probably not sleeping with the fishes. In real life, Chavez is on a leave of absence to play Lyle Menendez in the Netflix limited series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
It’s set to premiere late this year, but it’s not clear when Chavez will return to GH. Prince, however, is leaving the soap for good.
In the meantime, fans should appreciate his absence since it makes for a homecoming for Lipton, who grew up on the sudser just like his Emmy-winning colleague Eden McCoy. Lipton took over the role of Cameron in 2018.
When Lipton stepped away from GH in 2023, the soap said on social media that “Cameron will be back before you know it!”
Soap Opera Digest was first to report the news.
