Gigi Hadid on learning to balance work and her personal life while co-parenting with Zayn Malik
Gigi Hadid just opened up about learning to balance her busy life as she co-parents her three-year-old daughter, Khai, with her ex, Zayn Malik. The former couple welcomed the youngster back in September 2020, but ended their relationship for good just over a year later, in October 2021. Since then, Gigi and Zayn have been sharing 50/50 custody of Khai, with the mum-of-one detailing in an interview with The Times earlier this year that they keep their daughter's "happiness at the forefront" of everything.
Now, in a new extensive interview with NET-A-PORTER, the 28-year-old has spoken about her schedule and working as a creative director for her label, Guest in Residence. While also knowing when to take a backseat professionally in order to focus on her daughter. "I think when you are a parent, you have to be intentional because, now, I literally have half the time," Gigi said of co-parenting with Zayn.
"I work when my daughter is with her dad, and that’s the time I have." Alongside this, Gigi noted that, since having Khai, the jobs she chooses to fill that time with "have to be ones that are fulfilling."
"I will literally fit in as many jobs as I can on those days. I’m sometimes a crazy person, but if it means a lot to me, then I do it," she added.
Elsewhere, in a bid to spend more time with her daughter whilst working, Gigi also shared how Khai has been following in her footsteps, serving as a "fit model" for her brand. As part of Guest in Residence's upcoming kids' collection, Gigi explained that "Khai and her best friend are [their] fit models."
"They come into the office, Khai tries on one dress and then she's like, 'Do you want to go to the donut store?'" Kids, eh?
Further along in the interview, Gigi turned the conversation to her personal life and got candid about how she spends her time with Khai. While revealing she has been trying out old hobbies to bond with her daughter, she shared how she recently spent a six-hour flight to LA crocheting a unicorn for her. Which, unfortunately, didn't go to plan.
"It's just a blob with a horn and eyes," she joked, adding: It’s hilarious."
Tbh, it seems like Gigi has got it all figured out. Well, kind of, anyway...
