Glastonbury TV guide: Full BBC schedule and how to watch the festival live

Glastonbury Festival is back. Worthy Farm hasn't welcomed music fans since 2019, but this summer, global superstars and muddy fields will be out in full force.

As usual, organisers Michael and Emily Eavis have signed up an incredible list of performers and even if you aren't lucky enough to have a coveted ticket, you can still get a front row view by watching on TV.

When is Glastonbury 2022?

This year's Glastonbury Festival begins on Wednesday, 22 June and continues until Sunday, 26 June.

It is the first time the festival has taken place since COVID, with the last one staged in 2019.

Who are the headliners at Glastonbury 2022?

Acts not to miss at this year's Glastonbury include the three Pyramid Stage headliners — Billie Eilish on Friday, Paul McCartney on Saturday, and Kendrick Lamar on Sunday.

Diana Ross takes the Sunday afternoon Legends slot, and other Pyramid Stage acts to look out for include Sam Fender and Robert Plant with Alison Krauss on Friday, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds and Haim on Saturday, and Lorde and Elbow on Sunday.

The Other Stage line-up highlights include Foals, St. Vincent, Supergrass, Megan Thee Stallion, Pet Shop Boys and Years & Years.

It's a huge and varied line-up as usual, with some of the many other highlights from across the festival including Primal Scream, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Yungblud, Charli XCX, Jessie Ware and Billy Bragg.

How to watch Glastonbury 2022 on TV

Although the festival gates open on Wednesday, TV coverage begins on Thursday and the main headliners won't be on stage until Friday.

BBC One

Saturday's Glastonbury coverage on BBC One begins with an hour of Olivia Rodrigo at 7pm, before breaking and coming back later in the evening (meanwhile, BBC Two takes over) for the headline act.

For the first time, BBC One will air a Saturday headline slot on the night that Paul McCartney takes to the Pyramid Stage from 10.30pm.

You can also catch Diana Ross' teatime slot on the Pyramid Stage, which is airing on BBC One on Sunday from 6.45pm.

BBC Two

Glastonbury coverage kicks off on Thursday, 23 June at 10pm with a special 30-minute programme from Worthy Farm looking back at previous festivals and ahead to the weekend.

Friday continues on BBC Two with a look back at the first day of the festival from 9pm before Billie Eilish's headline slot from 10pm.

On Saturday, BBC Two coverage starts from 5pm, as well as on Sunday when it will switch to BBC One at 6.45pm and then pick up again from 8pm, with Kendrick Lamar's festival ending headline slot featured.

You can also see Elbow, Jessie Ware, Joy Crookes, Lorde, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Sam Fender and Years & Years on BBC Two over the weekend.

BBC Three

Acts to look out for on BBC Three over the weekend include Charli XCX, Declan McKenna, Glass Animals, Little Simz and Yungblud.

Friday's coverage is an hour from 7pm and then returns at 10.30pm, Saturday's is all evening from 7pm with a half-hour break for EastEnders at 7.30pm, and Sunday's is an hour from 7pm.

BBC Four

Arts-focussed BBC Four has a huge amount of coverage planned of the festival and will feature artists including Angélique Kidjo, Arlo Parks, Celeste, Kacey Musgraves, Pet Shop Boys and Robert Plant & Alison Krauss.

On Friday, coverage airs from 8pm to 10.30pm, there's an hour's coverage on Saturday from 7pm, and Sunday's schedules are taken over by Glastonbury from 8pm to 11.30pm.

CBBC

Kids have a special Glastonbury show to look out for, too - Blue Peter will be at the festival on Friday at 5pm with the winner of a competition to design a costume to lead the Glastonbury Festival Kidzfield parade.

iPlayer

If you want to recreate the Glastonbury vibe at home, head over to iPlayer where a dedicated Glastonbury channel will cover more than 90 acts across five stages from Thursday to Sunday.

You can watch live or catch up later, with Glastonbury content available for 30 days after broadcast on iPlayer.

Coverage of the festival and Glastonbury-themed shows is pretty much taking over BBC radio for the weekend.

There's plenty to look forward to on Radio 1, Radio 1Xtra and Radio 2, but 6 Music is the radio home of Glastonbury.

Live broadcasts, exclusive access and Glastonbury-themed playlists will be celebrated from Wednesday to Sunday on 6 Music.
