Good news! You never have to queue for a restaurant again

Love it or hate it, many of London’s best restaurants don’t take reservations, meaning you either have to rock up at 6pm on the dot, put your name down and head to the pub, or — at the most unforgiving places — simply stand in line for an unknown length of time until you’re moments away from tearing your own hair out. Depending on your optimism and tolerance levels, this can either be a scheduling concern, a character building exercise or a complete pain in the neck.

But fear not, because if you’re feeling lazy and have got stacks of cash to splash, hope is on the horizon. Task Rabbit, the app that allows users to book a handy person to build furniture or clean their house, is now offering a service where someone will queue in line at a restaurant for you.

Priced upwards of around £20 an hour, and averaging around £40, at the click of a button you can hire freelancers such as Joseph, Yunus, Denisa and Felicia to pop down and stand in line at the likes of Padella or Agora in Borough Market, Supernova Burger in Soho or Dishoom on Kingly Street — all while you spend your time washing your hair, finishing up something boring at work or (best case scenario) having a cocktail.

The perfect solution? Only if you can bear the dirty looks you’ll likely receive when you sweep to the front of the queue. We can’t promise we won’t be there serving those glances.
