In an episode of Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up, Gypsy-Rose Blanchard opened up about her sexuality and insecurities regarding intimacy.

While speaking about spending the night with her husband Ryan Scott Anderson for the first time after her prison release in December 2023, Blanchard opened up about how she felt beforehand.

"A big part of womanhood is learning to be comfortable with their sexuality and for years I wasn't," Blanchardn now 32, said during the episode. "I'm self-conscious because I have scars all over my body, and I had a lot of surgeries that were unnecessary so I'm like, 'Am I gonna be what he wants me to be? Am I attractive to him?'"

Later, she added, "For a long time, I actually kind of questioned my sexuality because as a teenage or preteen I felt that I was attracted to girls and I got to experiment with that in prison. I think I've kissed more girls than I have guys. I had such big fears that [I wasn't] going to like sex."

Blanchard spent nearly eight years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in connection with her mother Dee Dee Blanchard's death. She was the victim of Munchausen by proxy at the hands of her mother for years and was forced to have numerous unnecessary surgeries. Blanchard and her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohnplotted to kill Dee Dee in 2015.
