Jamie Foxx Shouts Out 'Incredible' Nick Cannon for Covering for Him on “Beat Shazam” During Recovery (Exclusive)

In PEOPLE's exclusive clip from the June 18 episode of the Fox competition series, the 'Ray' star's daughter Corinne also thanks Kelly Osbourne for stepping in

Jamie Foxx returned to Beat Shazam for season 7 after stepping away for season 6 to take care of his health, and he appreciates Nick Cannon jumping in to take his place as host.

“Since we had to miss last season, I thought we should take a minute to say thank you to the people who stepped up at the last minute and kept Shazam going,” Foxx’s daughter and Beat Shazam DJ Corinne says in a PEOPLE exclusive clip from the June 18 episode.

Jamie, 56, and Corinne, 30, took a hiatus from Shazam after the actor and musician suffered a medical complication on the set of his Netflix movie Back In Action in April 2023. Cannon, 44, took the Oscar winner’s spot as host and Kelly Osbourne filled in for Corinne as DJ.

“Big thank you to the incredible Nick Cannon, who did a great time hosting the show,” Jamie says in the clip. “Give it up for Nick!”

Corinne adds, “And another big thank you to Kelly Osbourne, who was a wonderful DJ. You both are now forever part of the Beat Shazam family and we are so grateful.”

Fox confirmed in May 2023 that Cannon and Osbourne, 39, would be temporarily covering for Jamie and Corinne as the Ray star continued to recuperate with support from his daughter.

"Beat Shazam has been an unscripted mainstay on the FOX schedule for six seasons and counting," the network wrote in a post on Instagram. "This season, not wanting fans of the game show to miss a minute of the fun, Nick Cannon has offered to fill in as guest host for his friends, Jamie and Corinne Fox. Kelly Osbourne will be filling in as guest DJ."

At the time, Cannon told Extra that Jamie recommended the father of 12 to replace him on Beat Shazam.

“I was actually working on something else and they say, ‘Jamie wants you to do this.’ And I was like, ‘I'll do anything for Jamie’ … I got the blessing from him and Corinne,” Cannon told Extra host Billy Bush.

When Cannon kicked off season 6, he told the audience that he wanted to do as good of a job as Jamie.

"I’mma do my best to live up to Jamie’s Beat Shazam legacy, which means I need to do three things: play the biggest hit songs on the planet — I got that — throw a party every single night — got that — and give away how much money?” Cannon asked, to which the crowd shouted, “$1 million!”

Fox announced in March that the father-daughter duo would resume their Beat Shazam duties for season 7.

“Jamie and Corinne are the heart and soul of Beat Shazam,” Allison Wallach, FOX Entertainment’s President of Unscripted Entertainment, wrote in a statement. “As our undeniably dynamic father-daughter hosting team, they bring a relationship like no other to a show like no other, and it’s wonderful having them back on set this season.”
