Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright have been spotted together, just weeks after they announced their separation.

The former Vanderpump Rules stars were seen reuniting in Los Angeles on Friday, after Cartwright, 35, confirmed last month that she and Taylor, 44, were living separately.

Outside an L.A. home, Taylor was seen opening the gate for his now-estranged wife as she held a pile of clothes, and he pulled the trash cans inside for her.

Cartwright first confirmed the separation on her and Taylor’s podcast, When Reality Hits, in February, revealing that the couple had been having issues for nearly a year.

“Marriages in general are very hard, and I've had a particularly rough year this past year,” she said on the podcast. “Jax and I are taking time apart, and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health.”

Cartwright said she didn’t know “what the future holds” for her and her husband, “but right now my focus is on being the best mom to Cruz,” the pair’s 2-year-old son.

“Pray for us and everything will be just fine,” Cartwright added. “We’re good.”

At the premiere of Cartwright and Taylor’s upcoming show The Valley on Thursday, the reality star told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview that she was focusing on Cruz first and foremost.

“At this point, Cruz is the most important thing, he’s all that matters,” Cartwright said during the interview. “Other than that, like, I'm just trying to have fun and be happy right now for once.”

Cartwright said she hopes Taylor will “make changes that he needs to make,” before adding, “My son deserves better. I deserved better.”

Also at The Valley premiere, Cartwright revealed that she was prompted to move out of their house and into an Airbnb rental after the pair — who tied the knot in 2019 — had a “horrible fight.”

For his part, Taylor told PEOPLE at Thursday's premiere that he and Cartwright decided “it's best for our family” to separate at this time and “take a little bit of a breather.”

“I'm not sure what the future holds for this, but, as of right now, this is the best-case scenario,” he said. “This is not a publicity stunt.”

Cartwright also added that the two did not announce their split to drum up publicity for The Valleydespite the rumors circulating.

“It's been hard because a lot of people think our timing is weird because the show is coming out,” she said. “But I can't control the freaking timing. I wish I could.”

“If people have actually watched me and know my personality, they should understand this is not something I would do for a show," she continued. "I am all about family, I'm all about marriage. I've been about that my entire life. This is something real that I really needed to step back from for a minute.”
