The movie focuses on a 30-year-old caddy named Shane (Ryan), who winds up with an unexpected gig as a personal private eye for a New Jersey nightclub owner. Even though he inches closer to realizing his ambitions, his personal life spirals out of control.
“When I was in high school, my friend’s dad told me I was going to fail in life because I was a ‘Mooch,’” said Ryan. “Making this film was a dream come true, and I am proud to put my dirty laundry on screen for all to enjoy.”
Cohen’s credits include “Kissing Jessica Stein” and “Gilmore Girls,” Tannenbaum appeared on “And Just Like That,” Carr appeared on “Bull,” and Chase was in “Nashville” and “The Crowded Room.” The ensemble also includes Olli Haaskivi (“Oppenheimer”), Lucy Walters (“Power”), and Natalie Roy (“The Affair”), as well as Ashby Gentry (“My Life With The Walter Boys”), Molly Brown (“Senior Year”), Charlie Pollock (“The Good Wife”), Ian Dolley (“The Holdovers”) and Louis Cancelmi (“Killers of the Flower Moon”).
Underoath drummer and vocalist Aaron Gillespie will produce the soundtrack for the film with Ryan.
“Mooch” is produced by Joe Adams, Owen Williams, and Jacob Andres Padilla of First-Names Films. Executive Producers include Molly Conners of Phiphen, Sam Schaefer of Schaefer Cinema, Chris Bilzikian, Nick Isder, Patrick Martin. Molly Welsh, Eamon Downey, and Jonathan Coleman are on board as co-producers, while Christopher Marino is co-executive producer.
