Johnny Depp ‘renting house with art studio in London to pursue painting passion full-time’


Johnny Depp is said to have rented a house with an art studio in London to throw himself into his passion for painting.
The ‘Edward Scissorhands’ actor, 61, has spent the last several years honing his art skills, and has now reportedly rented a townhouse in London’s West End kitted out with space for him to pursue his money-spinning sideline to acting full-time.
Johnny has been spotted with paint-splashed shoes in the city’s Soho area, according to the Daily Mail, which added he has spent at least six months in the capital.
The publication said he has “painted for years”, adding he made £3 million “in a few hours” in 2022 by selling prints from his debut art collection.
They featured four stars who have been inspirational to the actor – his old friend and Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, 80, as well as the late actress Liz Taylor – who died in 2011 aged 79 – actor Al Pacino, 84, and 83-year-old Bob Dylan.
The Mail added Johnny has become such a hit as a painter the website of his London gallery, Castle Fine Art, crashed due to the volume of interest from his fans after getting an alert about his work was posted to his 27 million followers on Instagram.
At the time Johnny said: “I’ve always used art to express my feelings and to reflect on those who matter most to me, like my family, friends and people I admire.
“My paintings surround my life, but I kept them to myself and limited myself. No one should ever limit themselves.”
In 2023, another set of prints were sold by the Castle gallery called ‘Five’ – showing Johnny as he approached the fifth year of his legal battle with former wife Amber Heard, 38, who he divorced in 2017 after two years of marriage.
They were based on a picture of him taken during a shoot for his ongoing Sauvage fragrance campaign with Dior.
