Johnny Knoxville might be the king of dangerous stunts on the big screen, but when he’s not filming movies like Jackass, he’s just dad to his kids Madison, Rocko and Arlo.

The stuntman became a father in 1996 when he welcomed his first daughter, Madison, with his then-wife Melanie Lynn Clapp. Over a decade later, in 2009, Knoxville and his second wife, Naomi Nelson, added son Rocko to the family. Their daughter Arlo followed two years later.

Through growing his family, Knoxville learned to love parenting. "I don't know if there's a greater thing,” he told PEOPLE in April 2024. “It's a responsibility and it's hard, but it's great. I love being a parent."

Part of that responsibility is making sure his kids stay safe at all times. Appearing on the podcast First Class Fatherhood in 2022, Knoxville talked about how he’s always “very concerned” about his children’s wellbeing.

“I’m like a helicopter parent about their safety,” he admitted. “With my son, it’s a full-time job.”

One thing is certain: none of them are allowed to build a career the same way their dad did. “They're not going to follow in my footsteps," Knoxville told LADbible in 2022. "They're going to go to school and use their brain for something other than a test dummy."

Here’s everything to know about Johnny Knoxville’s kids: Madison, Rocko and Arlo.

Knoxville and his first wife, Melanie, welcomed their daughter, Madison, on Jan. 4, 1996.

At the time, the Jackass co-creator was in his mid-twenties and was completely “terrified” at the thought of becoming a father, he told PEOPLE in April 2024. But the second Madison was born, everything changed for Knoxville.

“The baby was born and she was put into my arms. Just looking at her, all of my fear went away. It just went away. I was like, 'I think we got this,' And it was a wonderful feeling," he explained.

Madison often posts pictures with her dad on social media and even revealed she played a small part in his 2024 movie Sweet Dreams. In an Instagram post from March of that year, Madison described how she spent her time on set helping her dad run lines and even stepped in to read a few while filming.

“I was so happy to work with Dad ... I read for some of the daughter’s lines in a couple more emotional scenes (sorry again for the tears, Dad!)” she wrote in the caption next to a black-and-white picture of Knoxville with director Lije Sarki.

She seems to be following in her dad’s footsteps into the industry and working on more than just his films. A few years after graduating from Oberlin College, she posted about working in the art department for a music video by the band Topaz. She also listed her career as “Associate Producer, Production Supervisor, Writer” on her LinkedIn.

Madison is a doting big sister. She often shares pictures with Rocko and Arlo from her trips to Los Angeles, including sweet birthday messages with memories of them growing up together.

“Happy birthday to my baby bro Rocko, who’s now towering over me, I love you and am so excited for your 13th," she wrote in December 2022. "You’re hilarious and so sweet, and I’m getting you back some day for calling me a nerd so often, I swear!”

Knoxville and his second wife, Nelson, welcomed their son Rocko on Dec. 20, 2009.

The actor seems to have his hands full with his son, whom Knoxville has said might have inherited his need for adrenaline. But it took years for Rocko to truly know the kind of reputation his dad has, which was by design as Knoxville didn’t allow his young kids to watch Jackass.

“I said: ‘Yeah, Dad has a silly show where he does pranks and stunts, but it’s not really appropriate for you to see,’ “ Knoxville told The Guardian in 2022. “Especially for him, because he’s wired like my father. He has that rambunctious spirit and I’m afraid that he would want to do it. And that’s just not going to be on the cards.”

Rocko is also a talented baseball pitcher and demonstrated his skills on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2022 when host Jimmy Kimmel put Knoxville on the spot and asked him if then-12-year-old Rocko – who was sitting in the audience with his little sister Arlo – could strike him out.

Though Knoxville first acknowledged his son was good, he ultimately said he didn’t think Rocko could – only for Kimmel to call his bluff and bring the cameras outside to a makeshift pitching setup. On the last throw, Rocko successfully struck out Knoxville.

“That was legit,” he told his son. “Good job buddy.”

Knoxville and Nelson welcomed their younger child, daughter Arlo, on Oct. 6, 2011.

Before her birth, Knoxville posted a sweet announcement on Facebook shouting out his older kids. “my 15-year-old daughter madison is very excited about it, and her 16-month-old little brother rocko has, well, no clue. Wahoo!!” he wrote in April 2011.

Knoxville gave insight into Arlo's funny personality in March 2024 when he posted two pictures of himself after letting his daughter do his makeup.

In the caption, Knoxville explained how his “youngest daughter and her buddy” like to do his makeup – but that’s not the only fun part for Arlo.

"Usually they make me take them out in public afterwards to get ice cream or something. But today they forgot to ask and I’m not reminding them,” Knoxville joked.

Like with her brother, Madison also shares about her relationship with Arlo on Instagram. In October 2023, she posted throwback pictures of herself and Arlo and wrote, “happy birthday to my best girl Arlo, ya nut, love to you little sis."
