Anthony Joshua's opponent Miller returns 'adverse finding' drug test

Anthony Joshua’s next opponent Jarrell Miller has returned an ‘adverse finding’ on a drug test according to Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn.

Hearn said he had been informed by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association that a sample collected from Miller on March 20th had returned the finding, but Joshua’s preparations would continue regardless.

The fight, where Joshua will defend his IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles is set to take place at Madison Square Garden in New York on June 1. Miller, who’s nickname is ‘Big Baby’ is undefeated, but has never fought for a world title.

The American’s promoter Dmitriy Salita said "We are in the process of obtaining further information about Vada's finding and will have more to say soon on this developing situation.

“In the meantime Jarrell continues to train for his 1 June fight against Anthony Joshua."

Miller is likely to request that VADA test his B sample is tested, however should that also come back with an adverse finding, the 30-year-old would be unlikely to be granted a licence to fight by the New York State Athletic Commission.

Joshua’s team will also look to find other options should Miller be unavailable for the Briton’s first fight on American soil.

Joseph Parker, who Joshua beat on points to take home the WBO belt in Cardiff has already expressed his interest in being a replacement.
