Kate Beckinsale, 50, Shares Teary-Eyed Photo While 'Sick' in the Hospital
The actress posted photos from a hospital bed, leading fans to speculate about her health
Kate Beckinsale has fans alarmed after sharing photos of herself in the hospital.
On Monday, the 50-year-old actress posted a tribute on Instagram celebrating her mother’s birthday and Mother's Day in the U.K. While including videos of her mom, the Underworld star shared a couple teary-eyed photos of herself sitting in a hospital bed.
“Happy birthday and UK Mother’s Day this last week to my incredible mother,” she captioned the post. “Thank you to those that love us and support us when it’s s— and try to make sure there are some bits that aren’t. And for looking after our dogs when we can’t, and lead us to remember happy things when we can’t. And turn up when we are sick and sit with us . . And send balloons and check in and pull us out of wells with love.”
“Thank you for loving us, those who do, and for the amazing, kindest Nick, and especially for my mother’s capacity for joy. It is so inspiring and beautiful,” she continued. “Happy everything mama. Your fight for joy despite also welcoming tears is the experience of watching a warrior up close. I love you x.”
Because Beckinsale only mentioned being “sick,” many of the star’s followers commented under the post worrying about why she was hospitalized.
“What on earth are you doing in hospital Kate ? Wishing you peace and good health,” one person wrote while another added, “Hope you’re ok; life’s tough at times 🩷”

Beckinsale last went public about a health scare back in 2019 after suffering a ruptured ovarian cyst.
At the time, the actress shared two photos from her hospital bed. One showed her looking pained with an oxygen tube in her nose. In another, she’s lying on her side in bed and covered by a sheet while surrounded by medical equipment.
“Turns out a ruptured ovarian cyst really hurts and morphine makes me cry. So thankful to everyone who looked after me,” she captioned the shots, adding “#wobbly.”
According to John Hopkins Medicine, “an ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac that forms on or inside an ovary. In some cases, the cyst can break open (rupture).” Severe symptoms include “pain in the lower belly and bleeding,” and “in rare cases, a ruptured ovarian cyst may need surgery,” John Hopkins Medicine states.

The actress replied to one individual who commented on the post, “But first let me take a selfie.”
“It’s actually not a selfie,” Beckinsale wrote at the time. “My mum took it. In fact I would not have posted it if we had not noticed someone in a car taking a photo of me leaving the hospital in a wheelchair.”
“I have Instagram largely to have my own honest narrative and not have to always be ambushed by stories that come out that are invented, I’d prefer to say what happened than endure speculation and so I chose to share,” she continued, explaining why she posted the private moment. “I agree, it’s not a normal impulse. But it’s not normal to be photographed in vulnerable situations by people you don’t know either. (If you were interested in knowing the provenance of this, which, you probably are not.).”
She also used the comment to express gratitude for the more positive notes she received. “Thank you so much to everyone who has wished me well and lots of love to all the girls here who have been through similar or worse. Love to all x.”
