Why Kate warned Harry not to 'rush into' marrying Meghan

An explosive new book has claimed cracks appeared in Prince Harry and Prince William’s relationship from the moment he introduced his brother and sister-in-law to his future bride.

Initially hailed as the ‘Fab Four’, the quartet of young royals seemed a harmonious bunch in the first few months of Meghan and Harry’s relationship but it seems the strains of the eventual rift were felt far earlier than many thought.

In the new book Royals at War, authors Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett claim that the future king and queen raised concerns with Harry about his blossoming romance with Meghan almost as soon as they met her, laying rocky foundations for the their future relationship.

William reportedly asked his brother if he thought Meghan was ‘the right one’ after meeting her for the very first time, while Kate was quick to warn her brother-in-law to slow the whole thing down to give Meghan time to ‘integrate’ into the very foreign environment.

“She gently reminded him that he was dating someone with a completely different life, past, and career and it would take time, care and attention for them to integrate,” the book claims, adding she told him not to ‘rush into’ marriage.

Kate herself is thought to have had a tough time when she was first introduced to the family, coming from a ‘non-noble’ background, though she did have with the benefit of growing up familiar with the royal system.

Given she herself was met with some resistance from strident royal watchers, her concerns for Meghan, who had a separate public profile and was born and raised in an entirely different country with no aristocratic system at all, at the very least may have been well-intentioned, but reportedly went down like a lead balloon with her brother-in-law.

The book claims Harry was less than impressed with his family, particularly after he was forced to both confirm his relationship with his then-girlfriend Meghan and defend her from media scrutiny in a public statement in 2016.

At the time, despite the book’s claims, Prince William supported Harry’s decision to defend his relationship, giving his public approval in the process.

It would seem Harry disregarded the duo’s controversial pointers regardless, with the he and Meghan becoming engaged within the year and tying the knot just six months later in May 2018.
