Kim slammed for defending 'racist' YouTuber

She's no stranger to controversy, and Kim Kardashian has made headlines once again by defending a 'racist' YouTube personality.

The 36-year-old has been slammed by fans online after backing up makeup star Jefree Star, who has previously made racially offensive comments.

On Monday Jefree took to Twitter to critique Kim's new powder contour kits that are part of her makeup range, but Kardashian fans were not ready to forgive Jefree for his offensive remarks in the past, and decided to tweet back in Kim's defense.

But the wife of Kanye West didn't seem to understand where her fans were coming from, and instead asked them to stop targeting Jefree online.

Taking to Snapchat, she said: "I get that it’s a serious deal if you say like racial things but I do believe in people changing and people that apologise, I will give them the benefit of the doubt".

She continued: "I know better than anyone that I hate when people bring up my past or mistakes that I’ve made in the past so like, let him live. I welcome honest comments about my products and because of it, I’m swatching better now."

Taking to Snapchat, she said:

"Just enough, don't bring it up anymore... People want to forget the negative things they do in the past, and I do, too."

Oh Kim! Didn't she realise this would only bring on a lot more frustration from the fandom?

"Can you imagine thinking you're SO important that you can say sh*t like this and not only believe it, but expect people to take it well?" one fan wrote in response on Twitter.

Meanwhile another wrote: "Her husband is BLACK and she has TWO BIRACIAL children if someone was to be racist towards them they should just get over it right?".

Seems the message finally got through to Kimmy, who then uploaded another Snapchat video in which she issued an apology.

"So I really wanted to apologise to you guys and my fans for defending a situation yesterday that I really didn’t know enough about," she said in the candid clip.

"I just feel a bit naïve, and I do want to really apologise for me feeling like I had the right to say ‘get over it’ in a situation that involves racism."

She continued: "I just don’t really feel like I have the right to speak on that, and I really, really, really am sorry.

"From the bottom of my heart, I’ve always been about positivity and I’ve never been a negative person, so my whole thing was: 'Hey guys, I don’t want to see negativity in my timeline or my mentions, let’s just move forward — let’s be positive and move past this'."
