Kitchen kouture? Emma Corrin wears a corset dress made of knives and forks
As any fashionista worth her salt knows all too well, September is the biggest and most important month in the industry calendar. The new collections are presented across New York, London, Paris and Milan, setting the tone for the new season and year to come – while magazines pull out all the stops with major celebrity cover stars, fantastical photoshoots and predictions for the next big trends.
We've already had *that* insanely sexy Zendaya photoshoot for the September issue of ELLE US as well as the seriously unexpected Colleen Rooney story for Vogue – but now, Evening Standard Magazine has entered the chat with a seriously *major* cover of its own...
No, your eyes aren't deceiving you – that really is The Crown star Emma Corrin wearing a dress that's covered in silver knives and forks on the cover of ES magazine. Fashun: it can be pretty strange at times...
But as they themselves so aptly put it in their Insta caption: "fooorkin love this one man". Let the cutlery-related puns begin! Styled and conceived by the genius that is Harry Lambert (the man behind Harry Styles' epic looks and Pleasing brand), the corseted, cutlery-covered dress is a design from Dilara Findikoglu's AW23 collection – and if it looks oddly familiar, that's because it was recently worn by actress Hari Nef at Barbie's London premiere.
Hilariously, though, Emma's silverware look isn't even the most out-there one from the ES photoshoot... The theme of the story was surrealism, so if you flick through the pages of the mag (or post on Insta) you'll see some seriously strange – but verrrrry fashun – looks, including a shirt, tie and trousers with flowers growing out of the waistband, and a dress featuring gloved hands that gives a new meaning to 'body hugging'.
