Kylie Minogue and Sarah Michelle Gellar's Joint Slay Surprises Fans: 'Mother and Mother, Mothering'
"Best night with my boys and the woman I call mother," the 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' star said after meeting Minogue backstage at her Las Vegas residency
Sarah Michelle Gellar and her friends can’t get Kylie Minogue out of their heads after meeting the “Padam Padam” singer at her Las Vegas residency.
“Vegas high!!“ Gellar, 46, said on Instagram after watching the Friday show at The Venetian’s Voltaire theater. “It’s a major vibe. Best night with my boys and the woman I call #mother.”
“Mother” Minogue, 55, responded to the Buffy the Vampire Slayer star with, “Yes SMG. Loved meeting you all 💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓”
Gellar attended the show with Teen Wolf producer and writer Jeff Davis, Showboy BakeShop owner Stephen Lowry and entrepreneur Jared Sullivan before they met the “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” singer backstage.
Lowry and Sullivan, who appeared on Food Network’s Cupcake Wars, posted on the Showboy BakeShop’s Instagram account that they celebrated the night out with Kylie-themed cupcakes, “Padam Padam” friendship bracelets and prosecco rosé from Kylie Minogue Wines.
Fans of both stars were surprised and ecstatic to see them together. One fan, who grew up listening and watching them, simply tweeted, “My childhood.” Another fan said, “Mother and mother, mothering ❤️🔥.”
At the Vegas residency — called More Than Just a Residency — Gellar and the Voltaire audience watched Minogue perform songs from her nearly four-decade career, including her 1987 cover of “The Loco-Motion” and her recent viral hit “Padam Padam” from the 2023 album Tension.
“I always thought I would do something in Vegas,” Minogue told PEOPLE in September 2023. “Many moons ago it was seen as your retirement plan, and it's just had such a renaissance that artists are just loving it. … I'd better start collecting rings and do my best Liberace.”
