This is why I've used Boots' best-selling SPF for over a decade
Additionally, it's fast-absorbing, non-sticky and doesn't leave a white cast behind.
SPF is the bookend of any good skincare routine and its benefits go way beyond preventing sunburn. It can also reduce the risk of skin cancer from UV damage, reduce hyperpigmentation and improve your overall skin health. Over the past decade, I've been using the La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVmune 400 Invisible Fluid Spf50+ Sun Cream, and it's the best I've found for my oily, acne-prone skin.
As a beauty journalist, I'm constantly trying out new products and speaking to experts, and every dermatologist I've met with always recommends wearing daily SPF (and not just during the summer). It's key to combat anti-ageing and overall skin health and is without a doubt the best investment you can make when it comes to your skincare routine.
Lightweight and non-greasy, its fast absorbing formula is a worthwhile investment.
La Roche-Posay Anthelios Uvmune 400 SPF50+ Sun Cream | Quick Overview
🛍️ Product reviewed: La Roche-Posay Anthelios Uvmune 400 Invisible Fluid SPF50+ Sun Cream
⏰ Tested for: 10 years
⭐ Rating: 5/5
💸 Reasons to buy: It's fluid and lightweight, isn't sticky nor leads to breakouts, controls shine throughout the day and sits nicely under make-up
✋ Reasons to avoid: If it's within your budget, it's the best money you can spend, if you'd prefer to spend less than £15 on a suncream, this isn't for you
💰 Best deal we've found: You can currently snap up a 3 for 2 deal across selected La Roche-Posay products at Boots for a limited time
💸 Reasons to buy
Firstly, the compact packaging deserves a special mention. It's slim, easy to fit in a liquids bag in my carry-on luggage, and takes up minimal space in my toiletry bag.
However it's the formula that has won me over. It's very fluid and almost like a serum in texture, it couldn't be easier to massage all over my face. It doesn't take ages to absorb, nor leave behind a greasy glow or sticky sensation.
Instead it has a mattifying finish, and helps control oil production throughout the day, a godsend if your forehead, nose and chin are constantly shiny like mine.
It never pills nor disrupts my make-up, even if I opt for a dewier complexion product, plus it's fragrance-free which minimises any irritation and doesn't cause a flood of whiteheads to appear when I'm re-applying it every few hours on holiday.
I'm also not the only one who is a fan, last year it won Best Skincare Saviour in Boots' annual Beauty Awards 2023, which saw over 151,000 customers vote for their holy grail products.
Unsurprisingly, it was also the next best-selling skincare product at Boots last year, after the No7 Future Renew range.
✋ Reasons to avoid
In all honesty, it's hard to find a reason to dissuade anyone with oily skin from buying this, it's that good.
However if you prefer a more radiant finish to your SPF, I'd recommend opting for the La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Aquagel SPF30, which is a clear gel formula that's great for combination or dry skin types.
While £20 for a face suncream isn't cheap, it lasts me well over six months, and is worth every penny.
