Larry Birkhead and daughter DannielynnDannielynn Birkhead and her dad Larry Birkhead are headed home after their annual pilgrimage to the 2024 Kentucky Derby.
Dannielynn, the 17-year-old daughter of the late star Anna Nicole Smith, and her photographer dad announced that they had wrapped up their trip to the iconic horse race this year in a post on their joint Instagram account on Sunday, May 5.
In the post, the pair shared a selfie taken from their plane seats and a photo of a sweet note written to the duo after some turbulence hit their flight.
"On our way back home from a great @kentuckyderby weekend. Since I am scared to fly, I got a note for being a good boy. Thanks Kirsten @delta," Larry joked in the caption, tagging the post with "😂 #flydelta."
The Birkheads document their adventures at the Kentucky Derby every year on their Instagram account. Over the weekend, they posted photos of their traditional Derby garb and their Barnstable Brown Gala outfits and even showed off the teenager's last-minute haircut.
In an Instagram post shared on May 4, Larry, 50, unveiled their fashion choices for the official Kentucky Derby race day.
"On the way to @kentuckyderby with Dannielynn after a great night at the Barnstable-Brown Gala and quick morning haircut or two," he began the caption, highlighting his daughter's shorter hairdo.
"Dannielynn’s dress was inspired by her favorite character Hino Eiji, Kamen Rider OOO TaJaDor combo - she made me write that 😆 - because that character had the same shoulders as the design of the dress she found ! 🤷♂️," he continued.
For the event, Dannielynn sported a bright red dress that she paired with a floral hat, while her father wore a gray suit accessorized with a colorful tie and handkerchief.
"Hey whatever works, just trying to spend a little quality time as this weekend of traditions come to a close," the proud dad concluded the caption.

The night before, the pair made a stylish appearance at the Barnstable Brown Gala.
“On our way to Barnstable-Brown Gala for the kick-off of the @kentuckyderby weekend,” Larry captioned an Instagram carousel.
In the first image, the two sat beside each other sharing a seat while smiling for the camera. Larry wore a gray suit set with a black tie, and Dannielynn sported a high-fashion all-black look — formerly owned by Janet Jackson.
"Dannielynn is wearing her second @janetjackson outfit to the party that I got from Janet’s @juliens_auctions -charity auction," Larry wrote in the caption. "Looking forward to a fun Derby weekend with the newly graduated high school student!"

Although both Dannielynn and Larry maintain relatively private lives, the father-daughter duo share some of their sweet moments and travel adventures online — including everywhere from Dollywood to Hawaii.
On Dannielynn's 17th birthday in September 2023, Birkhead paid tribute to his daughter in a heartfelt Instagram post.
"Happy 17th Birthday Dannielynn! I am so proud of you in each and every way. Wishing you the best day ever!" he began the post.
"You are funny, crazy smart, pretty and just about everything I could ever imagine. Your Mom would be so proud of you, I sure am," he continued, referring to Smith.
"Happy Birthday! Love Dad ❤️ By the way, when you asked me if you could live in my basement forever. I said yes, but I didn’t have the heart to tell you there aren’t any basements in Florida 😂 ❤️ #HappyBirthday 🎂," he concluded the message.
