One Direction might be broken up for the time being, but they were back together in spirit at Radio 1's Biggest Weekend in Swansea on Saturday (May 26). Yep, Zayn Malik included.

Liam Payne was performing at the city's Singleton Park for the huge event when he sent fans wild with a passionate rendition of 1D's classic hit 'History'.

And just to make things even more emotional, Liam had a slideshow going with old-school pics and clips of the boyband behind him. It's at the 14-minute mark if you fancy reliving it on iPlayer.

It's fair to say there wasn't a dry eye either among those lucky enough to be there or just watching from home.

'History' was, of course, the band's final single before they took their hiatus in January 2016.

Just last month, Liam confirmed that all of One Direction are up for a big reunion show.

"You know I think [a reunion] will happen at some point in the distant future," he told German online news publication Promiflash.

"We've all spoken about it and, you know, the dream for this most fantastic show that could be, is amazing."

Still, Liam hasn't even got around to releasing his debut solo album yet. At Radio 1's Biggest Weekend, aside from making 1D fans cry by bringing out the classics, the former X Factor star also performed his solo hits 'Get Low', 'For You' and 'Familiar' – his fifth single since officially going solo last year.

But we might have a bit of a while to wait for that full album. "[It] was almost done and then I decided I wanted to do something a bit different and push the boundaries," he admitted last year.

Swansea is one of four UK cities hosting concerts as part of Radio 1's Biggest Weekend, alongside Belfast, Coventry and Perth.

Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran and Craig David also played Swansea on Saturday, while Taylor Swift, Florence + the Machine and Camila Cabello visit on Sunday.
