Lifeboats called to rescue two yachts in one day
Lifeboat crews in north Devon were tasked to assist two separate yachts which found themselves in difficulty on Thursday.
The first call for RNLI Ilfracombe was to a yacht with mechanical and anchor problems near Lynmouth with four people on board, including two children.
The second call out was to a yacht in Ilfracombe's outer harbour, also with four people aboard, that was drifting towards rocks.
Both yachts were safely brought into the harbour.
The lifeboat crew was called out around 06:30 BST to a yacht in trouble just west of Foreland Point.
Crew members succeeded in releasing its anchor and fixing the mechanical issues before accompanying to Ilfracombe's harbour, the RNLI reported.
At 17:30 BST they were tasked to a yacht that had broken its mooring in the outer harbour. Its prop had become tangled around the mooring and the yacht was heading towards rocks.
Both lifeboats were launched and they towed the yacht into the harbour.
