Lisa Rinna Would 'Love' to Join the “Melrose Place” Reboot: 'They Know Who to Call' (Exclusive)

"I haven't been approached or anything, but I would love to see what Taylor McBride is up to," says Rinna, who stars in the Lifetime movie 'Mommy Meanest'

Lisa Rinna is leaving the door open to revisit a very famous apartment complex.

Speaking with PEOPLE, the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, who played scheming Taylor McBride for three seasons on Fox's 1992 to 1999 primetime soap Melrose Place, says she’d be down to appear in a reboot of the series, which is in development at CBS Studios and being pitched to networks and streamers.

Three of the original stars, Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton, are currently attached.

“Well, gosh, I've heard about it," Rinna, 60, tells PEOPLE when asked about the reboot. “I haven't been approached or anything, but I would love to see what Taylor McBride is up to 25 years later. Wouldn't that be something?”

Taylor moved to the Melrose Place apartment building in season 5 with her husband Kyle (Rob Estes). She had her sights set on Dr. Peter Burns (Jack Wagner), the former husband of her late older sister. By the time Taylor got to Melrose Place, he had since married no-nonsense ad exec Amanda Woodward (Locklear).

Taylor and Peter began a messy affair, which ended both of their marriages. Taylor later became involved with Michael Mancini (Thomas Calabro) and got pregnant. After she and Michael split, Taylor returned to the East Coast to have her baby. Rinna exited the series in the series’ seventh and final season.

The actress says she’s “certainly open” to being a part of the show again because she loved her time on the original. “I have to say that was one of my greatest and most fun acting experiences, playing Taylor and working with Heather and the whole crew,” she says.

“I mean, it was just a great, great experience,” she continues. “So if they need a Taylor McBride appearance, they know who to call. I’m around.”

As PEOPLE previously reported, the new series would follow some of the original neighbors and friends, who reunite after a death.

According to a summary of the series, "The pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

The original Melrose Place, a spinoff of Beverly Hills, 90210, detailed the lives and loves of the residents of the titular apartment complex. Other famous names who appeared on the show include Sex and the City’s Kristin Davis, Desperate Housewives’ Marcia Cross and Charmed’s Alyssa Milano.

A previous reboot of the series aired from 2009 to 2010 and starred Ashlee Simpson and Katie Cassidy.

Rinna, meanwhile, is now starring with her daughter Delilah Hamlin, whom she shares with husband Harry Hamlin, in the new Lifetime movie Mommy Meanest.

Based on a true story, the film follows Mia (Briana Skye), a high school senior who’s receiving anonymous bullying text messages. Turns out, her mother Madelyn (Rinna) is the one sending them.  Hamlin has a supporting role as one of Mia’s classmates.

The two filmed the movie outside of Vancouver, and Hamlin says it was a treat to get to watch her mom at work. “I was so impressed by the amount of lines that this woman was learning every day,” she says. “I'm like, ‘How are you doing this? Really, actually, how are you doing this?’”
