Who says you can walk the red carpet only one time?

Met Gala co-chair Zendaya surprised fashion fans as she reemerged in a design that was very different from the custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano she wore earlier in the evening.

The Challengers star returned in a 1996 Galliano for Givenchy gown, which she paired with a floral Philip Treacy for Alexander McQueen headpiece from 2007.

Her stylist Law Roach shared the details on his Instagram account.

Rihanna is well-known for delivering some of the Met Gala’s most iconic looks. This year she decided to stay home. According to People, Rihanna is sick with the flu.

On April 29, the Fenty Beauty mogul teased to Extra that her look was going to be "real simple." Of course, history has shown that her outfits have been anything but.

Cardi B didn't disappoint fans when she made her arrival.

The rapper wore a breathtaking black gown adorned with a sea of cascading black tulle and commanded attention from the start — as evidenced by the handful of handlers that helped her get into position on the red carpet.

Leave it to Barry Keoghan to give us a masterful blend of vintage elegance and contemporary style.

The Saltburn star wore a deep brown double-breasted velvet jacket and matching trousers accessorized with a romantic white scarf.

He gave the classic look a modern edge with black patent leather combat boots and a decorative silver brooch. Of course, he topped it off with a top hat.

Pamela Anderson arrived at the Met Gala in an ethereal, custom Oscar de la Renta gown by Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia.

This is Anderson’s first time attending the event.

“I feel like everything has led me to this pinnacle moment where I get to be at the Met, being respected and accepted by Anna Wintour,” she told the New York Times before the event. “I can imagine that in the past I was not someone she would ever take a second look at. I wasn’t in fashion, ever. I wasn’t cool. And I know those things may seem really superficial to some people, but it means a lot to me.”

Oscar winner Da'Vine Joy Randolph stunned in a denim ball gown designed by Gap Inc. creative director Zac Posen.

The gown features a dark denim bodice with a corsetlike fit with oversize sleeves and a voluminous skirt. Randolph lovingly referred to her look as "Gap couture" in a joint interview with Posen during Vogue's livestream.

Posen said he was inspired to incorporate denim because the color blue reminded him of water and the indigo flower.

King Kylie is here! Kylie Jenner turned heads in a strapless Oscar de la Renta confection.

The youngest member of the Kardashian clan opted for a slicked-back bun and natural makeup. She's letting her dress do all the talking.

Draped in Maison Margiela by John Galliano, the reality star made her grand entrance up the steps of the Metropolitan Museum. (The fashion crowd was much more welcoming to The Kardashians star than those at Sunday night's Tom Brady roast.) Although Kardashian has attended the gala for the better part of a decade, she said she still gets "nervous."

"I really just look forward to seeing friends, I look forward to seeing my sisters ... we all get nervous no matter how many times we've been," Kardashian told Vogue. "It's just a fun family thing."

Lana Del Rey is staying true to “The Garden of Time” theme.

The singer wore a nude-colored Alexander McQueen corset gown adorned with branchlike embroidery that wrapped around her body. Adding to her ethereal vibe is a tulle veil and a headpiece resembling bare tree branches.

The Feud: Capote vs. the Swans actress stepped out in a Harris Reed creation that featured large pink-and-white flowers and structured, circular shoulders with black arrows. Her statement-making necklace is Cartier.

Lil Nas X always hits his mark.

The rapper walked the Met Gala red carpet in a long, cream-colored coat adorned with shimmering beads and a sash wrapped around the waist. The rapper made a bold statement with acrylic nails lined with silver sequins.

Serena Williams turned heads in a stunning gold dress by Balenciaga.

Styled by Kesha McLeod, she topped off her look with black opera gloves and a golden headpiece. She added a gold watch and matching gold rings on top of her gloves to complete the outfit.

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have arrived!

The Eternal Sunshine singer and Tony Award-winning actress joined forces for the upcoming movie adaptation of Wicked — and are channeling their respective characters on the red carpet.

Grande shined in a Loewe gown with a bodice made of mother-of-pearl, while Erivo turned heads in a black Thom Browne creation with silk pink rose petals.

Jessica Biel arrived in a vibrant pink gown adorned with intricate petals. The low-cut neckline accentuated her collarbone.

Jeff Bezos's fiancée has had several high-profile appearances as of late, but this one seems to affirm her ascension to socialite status.

Wearing Oscar de la Renta, Lauren Sánchez's look at the Met Gala likely won't be as hotly debated as the sheer red gown she wore to a state dinner on April 10. Fashion journalist Amy Odell reported that Wintour was instrumental in helping Sánchez prep her look.

"Anna Wintour is personally helping Sánchez with selecting her dress," Odell wrote on her Substack, noting that Sánchez "was choosing between custom looks by Oscar de la Renta and two other designers."

Mindy Kaling's elaborate Gaurav Gupta gown has quite the name: "The Melting Flower of Time."

When describing her ensemble created by Indian designer, Ocean's Eight star told Reuters that the sculptural design represents "a bud and a blossoming flower that is now withering."

"That’s why he chose this color," she said. "It’s the color of a withering flower."

Gigi Hadid didn't come to play.

For her first-ever Met Gala, Ayo Edebiri opted for a breathtaking Loewe look.

The Jonathan Anderson-designed gown features hand-painted and hand-embroidered lace along with colorful 3D flower details, Vogue reported.

Protesters are demonstrating near the Met Gala as NYPD is preparing for a possible escalation.

The protest, called “Day of Rage for Gaza: From the Encampments to the Streets,” began in the afternoon at Columbia University and NYU before demonstrators converged at nearby Hunter College, which is a 20-minute walk from the Met Gala.

The demonstration is part of larger protests happening at college campuses across the country in response to the Israel-Hamas war.

The co-chairs posed together on the red carpet and served every bit of diva glam we've come to expect from them. The stars had dinner together on Sunday, which is customary, per Lopez.

"It's actually not that bad," she told Vogue about co-chair duties. "Anna calls you, you have a lovely dinner the night before... you greet all the guests... it's quite the honor. It's nice."

Lea Michele is a sight to behold in an aqua Rodarte gown with floral straps and a dramatic tulle train, People reported.

The actress announced her second pregnancy in March with husband Zandy Reich.

Emma Chamberlain walked the Met Gala carpet in a custom Jean Paul Gaultier gown that features a corseted bodice and delicate lace detailing. The gown was inspired by a dark brown lace corset worn in the Gaultier spring 2003 couture show.

Chamberlain has returned to the event as Vogue's special correspondent.

Dune: Part 2 actress Rebecca Ferguson arrived in a custom Thom Browne ensemble.

The intricate look, which consists of a fitted sequin gown and a show-stopping cape with a raven motif, took 8,500 hours to make, Vogue reported.

Zendaya has arrived! The Challengers star and Met Gala co-chair stepped out in custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano. The ethereal look featured iridescent organza and embellishments that include leaves, grapes, beetles and birds.

According to her longtime stylist Law Roach, the 27-year-old actress was fitted for her gown only on May 4.

"I haven't seen Zendaya's dress! We've been on two press tours — Dune 2 and Challengers — and doing two Vogue covers," Roach told the New York Times. "The dress isn't even made. They won't fit until Saturday."

Jennifer Lopez glows in a sparkling silver web dress. She wore her hair in a bun and accessorized with a stunning necklace, Andrea Wazen heels, a matching clutch and a bracelet.

The Atlas star is co-chairing the Met Gala this year alongside Chris Hemsworth, Bad Bunny and Zendaya.

When she arrived, she composed herself on the carpet before posing for photos.

Jennifer Lopez has attended the gala more than a dozen times, but it’s her first time as a co-chair. Hours before the red carpet, the multihyphenate vowed she'd bring in the style department, saying the event is about fashion, not function.

"I can’t tell you anything about [my dress] — you’ll have to tune in to see," Lopez teased on Good Morning America. Asked if she'd be able to walk, she replied, “Barely, ever. The Met Gala looks are not about comfort.” But it’s worth the style sacrifice, she said, adding, “It’s a fun night for fashion."

Lopez goes to lots of events, but she said the Met Gala is special because “it’s such an interesting mix of artists and business people. It’s not just music or film, it’s everybody — fashion, film, music, business — and you get to have some really interesting interactions."

Bad Bunny is ready for royal court in a custom Maison Margiela suit, Today reports.

In what may be a reference to Count Axel from "The Garden of Time," the short story that inspired the Met Gala dress code, the Puerto Rican rapper and singer added a hat, black gloves and geometric shades to the look.

Elsa Pataky and hubby Chris Hemsworth color coordinated in neutral hues. The Thor star is a co-chair for the big soiree, so it's no surprise a star of his caliber was on the earlier side.

Game of Thrones alum Gwendoline Christie has made quite the entrance in a vibrant red dress with a black tulle cape that's fastened at the neckline.

Christie, who will be hosting Vogue's livestream on the red carpet, topped off the look with her blonde hair appearing to be shaped like clouds.

Life truly seems to be imitating art at this year’s Met Gala.

While the event’s dress code, “The Garden of Time,” is inspired by the J.G. Ballard short story of the same name, a closer look at the story itself reveals a timely — and serious — connection that goes beyond botanically inspired fashion.

In the 1962 story, a count and countess live a seemingly peaceful existence in a walled garden utopia. However, just beyond those walls are a “throng of people” looking to disrupt their lush life.

The parallels between the fictional work and the ongoing pro-Palestinian protests surrounding the New York-based event are striking. In fact, as fashionable A-listers move beyond a velvet rope to their own Met Gala garden, protesters have reportedly organized a “Citywide Day of Rage” event at the nearby Hunter College.

"Police security will be heightened in and around the Metropolitan Museum of Art," according to the New York Post.

Vogue editor in chief and Met Gala chair Anna Wintour has arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Wintour wears a custom Loewe look with vibrant floral embellishments over a white gown.

Supermodel Ashley Graham hit the carpet in a fitted black corset gown made with metal and Swarovski crystals, designed by Ludovic de Saint Sernin.

As she explained on Instagram, each piece of metal and crystal was hand placed, and the gown took 500 hours to make. The model topped off the look with stylized bangs and Gina shoes.

The Condé Nast union won’t be picketing at the Met Gala tonight.

The union, which represents employees at the media company, had planned to disrupt the A-list event chaired by Anna Wintour, the company's chief content officer and global editorial director, amid its battle over improved wages and benefits. However, early Monday morning, a tentative labor agreement was announced.

The union represents staffers at Vogue, GQ, Allure, Glamour, Bon Appétit, Wired and Pitchfork, among others, as well as those in audience development, commerce and video. The contract is expected to be ratified later this week.

Celebrity aesthetician Joanna Vargas has been getting stars red-carpet ready for nearly two decades.

Ahead of the Met Gala 2024, Vargas spoke to Yahoo Entertainment about her skin care dos and don'ts, her most requested skin care treatments and how getting ready for this red carpet differs from others.

“It’s a totally different ball game because it’s that stress-free, ‘This is going to be so much fun’ [mentality],” she said. “[A celebrity isn’t] thinking about anything except how to have the most fun with [their] look, and it’s a little bit warmer out, so we’re focusing more on things like lymphatic drainage, depuffing, sculpting, contouring ... that kind of thing.”

The Vogue editor in chief and gala chairwoman oversees the guest list and makes the final call on who gets invited. Just because someone has a big bank account doesn’t guarantee them admission — it’s a combination of “timely achievements” and “cultural clout,” according to Time. Yes, that can include influencers to get #MetGala trending.

To keep the event exclusive, the headcount is capped at 400. It’s really not your typical soiree: For instance, the price tag for one person this year is $75,000 (up from $50,000 in 2023) while a table starts at $350,000.

The celebs you see ascending the staircase tonight? They don’t usually buy tickets and are often guests of designers. Also, Wintour arranges the seating chart and guests don’t sit next to their plus-one (if they're even allowed to bring one).
