Third runway at Heathrow 'quite some time into the future' if it goes ahead
Wednesday 21 February 2024 08:52 , Jacob Phillips
A third runway at Heathrow, if it happens, is still “quite some time into the future,” its new chief executive said on Wednesday.
Speaking about expanding the west London airport, Thomas Woldbye told LBC Radio: “Expansion is, as you know and as you just said, a huge project.
“And we have to make sure we get it right. This has significance for the UK. It has significance for our customers, and it has significance for all the people around us, and of course, I am fully aware of the sort of uncertainty that this can create.
“But with a project of this size, we have to make sure we get it right and we are spending time on analysing how we do get it right.
“There is also a question of what kind of capacity can we create until we get to that point of having a third runway, because that is, no matter what happens, quite some time into the future.”
